Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor eligible family members for permanent residence. Our Licensed RCIC walks you through every step of the sponsorship process.
Sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner for permanent residence. Inland and outland applications available.
Sponsor your biological or adopted children under 22 years of age who are not married or in a common-law relationship.
Apply through the annual Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) lottery, or explore Super Visa options for long-term visits up to 5 years.
Inland Sponsorship
Your spouse/partner is already in Canada. They may receive an open work permit while the application is processed. Both applications are submitted together.
Outland Sponsorship
Your spouse/partner is outside Canada. The sponsorship application is processed at a Canadian visa office in the sponsored person's country of residence.
Eligibility Review
We confirm you qualify as a sponsor and review your relationship documentation to build the strongest possible application.
Application Preparation
We prepare both the sponsorship undertaking and the sponsored person's permanent residence application with all required forms and supporting documents.
Submission & Tracking
We submit the applications and track their progress, responding to any additional requests from IRCC until your family member receives their Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
As a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can sponsor your spouse or common-law partner, dependent children (including adopted children), parents and grandparents, and certain other relatives in specific circumstances. Each category has different requirements and processing timelines.
IRCC targets processing spousal sponsorship applications within 12 months. Spouses living inside Canada (inland applications) may receive an open work permit while waiting. Timelines can vary based on application completeness and biometrics requirements.
To sponsor parents or grandparents, you must meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) threshold, which is 30% above Canada's Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) for your household size, for the past three tax years. You must also commit to a 20-year undertaking to support the sponsored person.
Siblings are not eligible for family class sponsorship under standard rules. However, there is a limited exception: if you have no spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parents, grandparents, or other eligible relatives living outside Canada, you may be able to sponsor one sibling, nephew, niece, or orphaned relative under the 'last remaining relative' provision.
Parents can visit Canada for up to 5 years per entry on a Super Visa while the sponsorship is in progress.
Once your sponsored family member becomes a PR, they start their path toward Canadian citizenship.
If your spouse is a skilled worker, Express Entry may be a faster route to PR than family class.
